LEAGUE CUP RD1: Churchdown Panthers Whites 12-1 Slimbridge Spartans
Sunday 24th September 2017
This fixture was a complete mis-match against lower league opposition, that could have been an even worse score had we not cut the game short, and supported our opposition in the second half. Story of the first half....
4 mins - Jacob Krolicazak deep cross to Tom Whiteside who set the ball for Harry Staddon to fire in across the keeper.
5 mins - Harry Staddon played a good ball in for Ethan Dunbar to score.
10 mins - Jon Whiting picks the ball up in midfield and dinks it over the defence for Ethan Dunbar to round the keeper and score.
13 mins - Harry Staddon cross is converted by Ethan Dunbar for his hat-trick.
14 mins - Harry Staddon through ball for Ethan Dunbar to net his 4th.
26 mins - Jon Whiting switches play for Jakub Kroliczak who cuts inside and scores.
31 mins - Tom Whiteside collects the ball, turns and plays a slide rule pass for Jazton Juico to finish.
37 mins - Ben Murphy finds Kian Gardiner who shifts onto his left foot and drills home.
40 mins - Ethan Dunbar turns provider for Jakub Kroliczak to net his second.
After spending most of half time chatting to a dejected opposition we decided to change things up. Our forwards went in defence and vice versa. We agreed to retreat to half way to let them play out, and we allowed them to field 12 players. The referee also stopped the game on 65 minutes with agreement from both parties.
47 mins - Dan Clayton on the edge of the area finds Ben Murphy to crash a shot home.
59 mins - Ben Murphy crosses for Alex Fulford who controls with his chest, plays keepy-up to turn and then volley the ball home.
60 mins - A break by the opposition and they get on the scoresheet!!
61 mins - Pretty much from kick off, Tom Whiteside and Alex Fulford play a few 1-2s to progress through the middle of the park, before Alex nets number 12.
It is not easy coaching a game like this. We made some right choices for 2nd half, but that of course means that we don't get to play how we are supposed to. Still, we were clinical in the first half, and moved the ball about well.
Our player of the match is Harry Staddon.
