MATCH REPORT: Churchdown Panthers Whites 2-3 FC Lakeside
Sunday 5th February 2017
The first 10-15 minutes of this game looked good. Unfortunately after that we weren't at our best, eventually losing the game in the last minute for the second week running.
It took 23 minutes for us to break down the Lakeside defence. A long ball from Ben Murphy, was contested in a battle with the keeper by Ethan Dunbar. Ethan won that battle and slid the ball home.
Five minutes into the second half and we were in control. A ball from Camerton Thornton on the left, found its way to Harry Staddon at the back post, to smash home from close range. Cue a Lakeside recovery. Four minutes later a Lakeside shot from the edge of the box found the far corner. Then 3 minutes later, a ball over the top left their stiker to round the keeper and finish. We were also thankful of a header off the line from Jakub Kroliczak. Then in the last minute of the game, a ball over the top again to the same man, with the same result.
This was a disappointing day. We work well on the basics at training, but those simple things were not translated onto the pitch. For his effort on the day, our player of the match was Ben Murphy.
