MATCH REPORT: Churchdown Panthers Whites 4-0 Quedgeley Wanderers Reds
Sunday 19th March 2017
It was great to wrap up the season with a comfortable win, watch some spirited football and see players coming off with a smile on their faces.
Panthers started fast and could have gone ahead after 7 minutes. Harry Staddon tricked his way into the box, before being felled by a defender. Unfortunatley Harry pulled the spot kick wide of the post. Just 4 minutes later we opened our account. Sonny McCarrick worked space for Ethan Dunbar on the right, who whipped in a terrific cross which the defender could only turn into his own net at the near post, under pressure from Aidan Limbird. We may well have gone on to score more in the first half, but the wind played a part, taking a number of through balls, straight to the Quedgeley keeper (who also pulled off some great saves).
HT 1-0
It took 8 minutes of the second half for Panthers to double the lead. Daniel Clayton played a superb ball down the line from the right back position for Ethan Dunbar. Ethan took over and scored a magnificent solo effot, beating the last 2 and cutting inside to beat the keeper at his near post. Mid-way through the 2nd half, two goals in a minute wrapped up the tie. First a Cameron Thronton ball out to Jakub Kroliczak on the left, allowed the latter to cut in and fire across the keeper into the opposite corner. Then Kye Dean cut in from the right and played a slide rule pass behind the defence for Tyler Jones to latch on to and finish well.
FT 4-0
A good game today, and played with a care free spirit. Our man of the match for fantastic levels of energy and enthusiasm throughout, was Cameron Thornton.

MATCH REPORT: Longlevens 3-0 Churchdown Panthers Whites
Sunday 12th March 2017
Overall our desire and effort levels were up on last week. It was a much more even game than the scoreline suggests, just that the chances fell better for Longlevens.
First goal on 25 mins, came from a long throw in that fell to a Levens player to turn in. Then 8 minutes later a good cross from the left was turned in at the near post.
HT 0-2
Midway through the second half a long free kick flicked off the head of Jazon Juico, and fell to a Levens player in the box to finish.
FT 0-3
We fought harder today, but didn't quite get enough to test the keeper. We were a bit hard done by today. For consistency throughout, the player of the match was Jazton Juico.
Cheers

MATCH REPORT: Churchdown Panthers Whites 1-5 Leckhampton Rovers Lions
Sunday 5th March 2017
Disappointingly we chose the cup semi final to not be at our best. Ultimately we were second best to a Leckhampton side that played very well.
Two first half penalties to the opposition, on just 8 and 14 mins were the goals in the first half. On both occasions, Alex Fulford felled the forward when through 1 on 1.
HT 0-2
Eight minutes into the second half and Leckhampton extended their lead. This one from a corner we didn't deal with, resulting in a goalmouth scramble. Then 2 mins later they wrapped up the tie, with a cross from the right, turned in with an unchallenged header at the near post. Panthers did then get on the scoresheet. Ethan Dunbar created space for a shot on the right of the box, that shot coming straight back to him, only for Ethan to drill the ball back across goal and Sonny McCarrick turned it in at the far post. With about 5 minutes left, Leckhampton got a 5th, with a cross to the far post, turned in again with a header.
FT 2-1
Hopefully we can work hard on the areas that didn't go so well in training. Lets chalk this one off and look to finish the season positively. For an outstanding first half, up against a strong front line, which also continued into the second, our player of the match was Anna Barnes.
Cheers

MATCH REPORT: Churchdown Panthers Whites 2-1 Ebley
Sunday 26th February 2017
This was a well deserved win against a tough physical side.
Panthers started a little slower than we hoped a took a little while to get organised, but as the first half progressed, the football got better. The passing started to improve and we created a few chances. The best 2 falling to Kye Dean and Ed Leech, but both unable to find a finish.
HT 0-0
Panthers continued to grow in confidence in the second half and got the reward 20 minutes in. Jon Whiting set Jakub Kroliczak away, who came under challenge as he cut back inside. The loose ball fell to Ethan Dunbar who whipped a ball across the the right side of the area, and to Harry Staddon, who took one touch then fired home. Panthers were fairly comfortable, but then with 5 minutes to go Ebley got back on level terms!! A shot from the edge of the area was mis-cued but turned out to be a great pass to another Ebley player free on the left side of the area. He hit a great shot across Alex Fulford into the far corner.
Not to be denied, Panthers kept fighting, and with just 2 minutes left Cameron Thornton fed in Kye Dean on the right. Kye's shot across the keeper was parried to the feet of Tyler Jones at the far post who had a tap in.
FT 2-1
A difficult one route team to play, but we did great to get the result. Our player of the match today, for just being everywhere on the pitch and doing a great defensive job when needed, was Ben Murphy.
Cheers
