Churchdown Panthers U8s @ Swindon Village Festival

The players performed really well, on a scorching hot day, when we seemed to lose the toss at every kick off, and have to play uphill!!

Split into 2 teams, the sides played in separate groups, in the full 7 a-side format.   Goals were few and far between for our sides, but they defended valiantly against some strong sides.

Here is a summary of the results:

Churchdown Panthers 1

Team: Alfie Carter, Callum Ward, Finn O'Grady, James Fernandes, James Pollard, Jazton Juico, Samuel Jones, Tom Clarkson, Tom Pritchard, Tom Dove

Results:

Swindon Village1 0-1 CPFC1 (Scorer: James Pollard)

Gotherington 0-0 CPFC1

CPFC1 0-0 Cleeve Colts

CPFC1 0-2 Leckhampton Lions

Churchdown Panthers 2

Team: Anna Barnes, Austin Plemel, Ben Murphy, Shun-Ta Cheong. Tom Mason, Joshua Bird, Ethan Streatfield, Oliver Leathem-Pugh, Robin Hanman

Results:

Swindon Village2 0-1 CPFC2 (Scorer: Joshua Bird)

Brockworth 1-0 CPFC2

CPFC2 0-2 Southside

CPFC2 0-0 St Marks

Next Season
I am now in receipt of the registration forms for next year. As you know we have registered 2 teams. Over the next week or so, myself and Dave H will think about which players to register for which teams. Therefore it would be appreciated if we could know those intending to be involved next season.
My records show that I am waiting on updates from: Anna, Callum, Finn, James F, James P, Jazton, Robin, Tom M – all others have indicated a desire to play next year. If anything is wrong then please let me know.
We will hand out the registration forms over the next couple of sessions. These will require 2 passport photos of each child (FA ID cards are produced). So if you could think about an opportunity to take these now, it would speed up the process.
Training 25th June
Usual session at the CCA this weekend. At the moment I have the following absentees: Anna, Dan, Jacob, Toby. If there are others, please let me know.
Training 2nd July
This will be the last training session before we take a 5 or 6 week break over the holiday period (with the exception of us getting together for the tournament on the 10th). We are thinking about signing off the season with a few certificates at this session.
Goals, goals, goals!!!!
Believe it or not, we have some rare footage of CPFC U8s goals, courtesy of Mr Streatfield. Please scroll down the match reports from the Brockworth match and the Brockworth Tournament:

Evening Folks
I have posted a quick report on the Brockworth Tournament from last weekend:
http://www.churchdownpanthers.co.uk/our-teams/under-9s/u9-match-reports/item/100-brockworth-tournament-report-4th-june-11.html
I am now planning to hold training on Saturday mornings up to the Swindon Village Tournament on 10th July. Please let me know if the kids are unable to make any of the weeks.
Swindon Village Tournament – 10th July

No further information as yet. It will be 6 a side, but I am not sure on restrictions to squad size. I have entered 2 teams. I am still awaiting confirmation on 6 players availability that weekend. Can you advise if not already done so.
Presentation Night – Fri 17th June

Presentation will start at 730pm sharp next Friday night, at the Community Centre. It is likely to be about 1.5hrs. It really would be great for as many of the team to be there as possible, and the kids will be able to pick up their medals.
Next Season
From 1st July we can start to register our players for next term. We can register up to 14 for each of the teams. Currently we have 23 players, which means we have scope for some recruitment. Please consider this 2 fold:
- Opportunity for any friends you know may be interested in getting involved.
- We could do with knowing how big a recruitment drive to have.
On that second point, I would be really great-full if you could let me know whether your son/daughter is intending to be involved next term. Please let me know either way.
Thanks, and see you Sat!
Russ
